Matei Apostolescu aka 013a aka beaucoupzero is one of mine: a Romanian. But, that’s not why I’m writing about him today. I’m writing about Matei Apostolescu because he designs awesome images with unicorn poop. Okay, I’m being facetious, but his technicolor vistas are definitely pretty cool. Personally, I particularly enjoy his comical take on the fabled conspiracy of the majestic 12 (though in Apostolescu’s illustration they are an unlucky 13.) | Read More

Aditya Ikranegara‘s art can have a natural feel to it at times and yet his pieces can be just as amazing with a dark fantasy or futuristic technological touch, because the subject matter is invariably transformed into something beautiful and captivating by his style. | See More

Many of his paintings are of the towns and nature he encountered during his travels after studying painting. So in his selections we see many paintings of Algeria, Paris, and Rouen. Albert Lebourg, of course, painted the customary studies of flowers and a self portrait, but it is that special character of old world towns from a time long ago that truly caught my eye. | See More

Maxime Maufra is a little different than most painters you read about. Originally from Nantes, France he started off as a businessman who painted because he loved to do it. It wasn’t until he was almost 30 that Maufra decided to focus exclusively on painting and had by that point only been painting in the impressionist style for 6 years. Nonetheless, his landscape paintings are absolutely beautiful. Maxime Maufra’s illustrations of French countryside visages and beautiful beaches are wonderful. | Read More

When it comes to impressionist painting, I find that most people tend to focus on a few artists with big names almost to the exclusion of all others. Certainly Van Gogh, Monet, Manet, Degas, and Pissarro deserve the praise and attention that their work has drawn, but there are many impressionist painters who are undeservedly almost completely ignored. One of my favorite painters within this group is Maxime Maufra. | See More

Sulamith Wulfing’s drawings of various nature spirits especially evoke in one a longing for a world that is more deeply touched by the supernatural and magic. In every picture there is the sense of a deep connection between humans and nature but in a deeper way than one might find in traditional art. | See More

From what I’ve noticed while trolling the internet, a number of people like Nanami Cowdroy’s art so much that they’ve decided to tattoo her designs on their bodies. I don’t blame them. A number of her pieces would look beautiful on a shoulder or as a quarter sleeve. | See More

I LOVE Nanami Cowdroy! Her style of art is a refreshing twist on old school Japanese illustration… which makes sense since she’s half Japanese and half European. Throw in the fact that she’s Australian (oh man, that accent) and, as I said, I’m in love. | See More

Mathis Rekowski gives his art an explosion of texture and color for his viewers to feast their eyes on. His complex digital collages take on many forms. Mathis Rekowski can use the same bite-sized images to make either a human face or a landscape where I would imagine a unicorn and smurfs might live. | See More
